Call memory and collective control
Every call is kept
In Create alone, an elevator knows only one target. A new call replaces the old one, even while the car is already moving. With Create Managed Elevators every call is stored until the car has served it, no matter where it comes from:
| Source | Kind of call |
|---|---|
| Redstone signal at a floor's elevator contact | to that floor |
| Create's Contraption Controls in the cabin | to the chosen floor |
| Cabin Terminal (button or window) | to the chosen floor |
| Call Button on a floor | to that floor, without direction |
| Up/Down Call Panel on a floor | to that floor, with the direction pressed |
The lamp of a call button stays lit until the car arrives. Calls to a floor the car cannot reach (for example beyond the rope length) are ignored.
Collective control
The car works like a real elevator with collective selective control:
- It keeps its direction as long as there are calls ahead of it. Only when there is nothing left in that direction does it turn around.
- Calls from the cabin (terminal, Contraption Controls, redstone) are served whenever the car passes.
- Calls from an Up/Down Call Panel are served only in the direction that was asked for. Somebody who pressed "down" on the third floor is not picked up by a car going up; the car comes back for them on its way down.
- A Call Button without direction counts like a call from the cabin: the car stops whenever it passes.
Stopping on the way
If a new call comes up between the car and its current target while it is moving, the car stops there first, as long as it can still brake. That is the case if the floor is at least the minimum braking distance away from the car (default 2 blocks). A floor right in front of the car is served on the way back instead.
brakingDistanceBlocks) or per elevator in the terminal window, see
Settings.A call for the floor the car is at
If somebody calls the floor the car is standing at while its doors are open or closing, the doors simply open again. The car does not leave and come back.
