Operation
Switching an elevator off
An elevator without drive is switched off, not broken: what that means for calls, buttons, indicators and the light.
To take an elevator out of service, take its drive away: stop the rotation of the Elevator Pulley, for example with a clutch or by switching off the motor, while the car stands at a floor.
What happens
| Switched off | |
|---|---|
| Car | finishes the door sequence at its floor and then waits with closed doors |
| Calls already stored | are kept and served when the drive is back |
| New calls | from the cabin and from contacts are ignored; a call button says "The elevator here is not running: assemble its pulley and give it rotation" if no car of its group runs |
| Call buttons | go dark |
| Floor indicators | go dark (the 7 Segment shows only its unlit segments) |
| Cabin Light | off |
| Group calls | go to the other cars of the group |
Give rotation back and the elevator carries on with the calls it kept.
Switched off or broken down?
| Switched off | Out of order | |
|---|---|---|
| Drive lost while … | standing at a floor | moving between floors |
| Car calls | kept | dropped (unless keepCabinCallsOnFault) |
| Light | off | emergency light |
| Indicators | dark | blinking fault |
| When the drive is back | carries on | rescue run to the nearest floor first |
See Faults and rescue.
An elevator whose pulley is not assembled is not running at all: its contacts behave as in Create, and the mod's blocks
show nothing.
