Routes and route levers
A route is a named group of signal settings that you switch together: locked signals and shunting signals (Sh) held at Sh 1. Routes live in the Routes tab and can also be thrown with a mechanical Route Lever.
Saving a route
Set the signals on the map
In the Map tab, lock the signals that belong to the route and set the shunting signals you need to Sh 1.
Save
In the Routes tab press Save n set signal(s) as route and type a name, for example "Track 3 closed". Confirm with Enter.
Switch it
Select the route and press Activate or Deactivate. Active, it locks all its signals at stop together.
The list shows for each route whether it is active and how many signals it locks. Delete needs a second click.
Entry-exit route
Instead of setting every signal by hand, let the mod work it out:
Press "Entry-exit"
In the Map tab press Entry-exit.
Click the entry signal, then the exit signal
The status line guides you: first the entry signal, then the exit signal.
Name it
Type a name for the new route.
The mod looks for the shortest chain of signal sections between the two signals and locks every other signal that leads into these sections. Shunting signals along the way are set to Sh 1.
Shunting signals in a route
A shunting signal (Sh 0 / Sh 1) that belongs to an active route is held at Sh 1 as long as the route is active. The route takes precedence over a setting by hand. On the map such a signal says "held at Sh 1 by a route". How shunting signals work at the track is described under Signals.
Route Lever
The Route Lever is a mechanical lever as in an old signal box: a point lever with a rope pulley between two bearing blocks, a red lever body, a bright steel handle and a catch. Each lever switches one route.
Place the lever
Several levers side by side make a lever frame.
Link a route
Sneak + right-click with an empty hand. Each click links the next route, in alphabetical order. The lever tells you which route it is linked to.
Throw it
A right click throws the lever and switches the route on, another one switches it off again.
- A thrown lever emits a redstone signal, for a lamp or a bell next to it.
- The lever follows the route: if someone switches the route in the window or at another lever, the lever throws itself within a second.
- Linking and throwing need the permission to operate the signal box.
Routes and control areas
A desk with a control area may only switch routes whose signals all lie inside its area. For an entry-exit route, the entry and exit signal must lie in the area.
Signal locks and holding trains
Lock signals at stop from the signal box, hold trains at their next stop, and let one train past a locked signal with the substitute signal (Zs 1, Zs 7, Zs 8).
Signals tab
Set the speed indicators of light signals, switch speed boards and set switching signals from the signal box, without walking to the line.
