Speed boards
The Speed Board is the one sign that really acts on trains: it limits the speed of every train that runs over its piece of track and for which it stands on the right. It comes in the three kinds of the signal book that give a speed:
| Kind | Look | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Lf 7: permanent limit | white board, black border, black digit | From here the permanent line speed is digit × 10 km/h. |
| Lf 2: start of restriction | yellow disc with black A | Start of a temporary speed restriction. |
| Lf 3: end, full speed | white disc with black E | End of the restriction; full speed again. |
In CMR the digit means digit × 10 % of the train's top speed, just like Zs 3 on a light signal. Lf 3 lifts the limit again.
Placing it
The board belongs to a piece of track, so it is placed like a Create signal or station:
Click the track
With the Speed Board in your hand, right click the track it should watch. Track blocks only, not freely curved track.
Place the board beside it
Place the board next to the track, at most 16 blocks away, on the right side as seen by the trains it is meant for.
Set it up
Right click it with Create's wrench (management right needed): choose the Kind, the Digit and whether it is Switched on.
Sneak and right click into the air to discard a track selection you do not want.
Announcing a limit
The signal book announces every speed limit in advance. CMR's Lf Sign (a sign board without effect on trains) has the matching boards:
| Sign | Announces | Put it |
|---|---|---|
| Lf 6: Speed Announcement (yellow triangle with digit) | an Lf 7 | in braking distance before the Lf 7 |
| Lf 1: Temporary Speed Warning (yellow disc with digit) | a temporary restriction (Lf 2) | in braking distance before the Lf 2 |
| Lf 1/2: Temporary Speed Start | start of a restriction directly | where announcement and start fall together |
| Lf 4: Speed Board, Lf 5: Start Board | older permanent limit and its start | as on older lines |
So a typical temporary restriction is: Lf 1 with the digit, then the Speed Board as Lf 2 with the same digit, and at the end a Speed Board as Lf 3.
Switching signals
Zs additional signals and Sh shunting signals that follow a light signal or a Create signal, their operating modes, routes, and the Wn and Zp signals.
Railway lamps
Seven lamps for platforms, yards and loading roads that give real light and switch on by themselves at dusk or at set hours.
