FAQ and troubleshooting
Lines and schedules
I applied the schedule, but the trains do not move.
Trains still need a driver to run by schedule, as in Create: someone (usually a mob) seated at the controls, or at a driver's console with a driving lever. Also check that the train is not held in the signal box and not standing in front of a locked signal.
A train is missing from its line in the Lines tab.
A train belongs to a line only if its schedule contains CRN's Travel Section entry for that line. Also, CRN only lists trains whose data is already reliable, so a new train may appear at its line only after a while. To take a train onto a line straight away, use Add train.
I closed a station, but the trains still stop there.
Closures are only noted until you apply. Click Apply all (n) at the top of the window or Apply to trains on the line, or switch on Effective at once. See Automatic updates.
If it still stops there: a closure is compared with the station filter of the stop. A stop with the filter
Central * is not left out when only Central 1 is closed. Close the pattern instead, see
Closures and extra stops.
"Not applied: there would be no stop left"
After removing the closed stations, the line's schedule would have no stop at all, so CMR leaves the trains alone. Reopen a station or add an extra stop.
My closure took effect on its own, without anyone applying it.
The line has auto-sync switched on, or Effective at once is on. On such lines changes reach the trains within seconds.
Auto-sync switched itself off.
Undo switches auto-sync of the line off, otherwise it would overwrite the restored schedules again at once.
CRN's departure boards show wrong times after a change.
After a schedule change CRN learns the travel times of the train anew. The displays become accurate again after a round or two.
"You are not allowed to do this"
Schedules, stations, profiles, the signal box and block settings need CRN's permission to change the Global Settings. Assigning and applying a line needs edit rights for that line in CRN. See Permissions and districts.
The window at my control desk only has four tabs.
The desk has been given a control area. Such a desk only shows Stations, Map, Routes and Signals. Sneak and right-click it with an empty hand until no area is selected to make it an admin desk again.
"This desk's control area was deleted"
Its area no longer exists. Sneak and right-click the desk with an empty hand to give it another area or none.
Signals and the lineside
My light signal stays dark.
It is not connected to a Create signal. Put a Create Train Signal up to three blocks from the foot of its mast, or connect it with a Display Link from the Create signal. A signal flashing red means the Create signal reports invalid.
The speed digit on the signal has no effect.
The limit only works if the light signal is connected to a Create signal; it applies to trains passing that signal in its direction. It sets the same throttle as Create's schedule instruction "Change throttle", so whichever was set last wins.
I cannot change the settings with the wrench.
Changing block settings needs the management permission (CRN's Global Settings).
I cannot select a curve with the track contact, balise or PZB magnet.
These are placed like Create's signals: click a track block first. Freely bent curves cannot be selected.
My level crossing does nothing when I am far away.
The control box only works while its area is loaded.
Train and radio
The keys for horn, lights or PZB do nothing.
They only work while you are on a train whose driver's console has the matching device, for example the Horn Button for H. See Key bindings.
The train radio has no network.
Radio only works within reach of a GSM-R Radio Mast. Put up a mast, raise its range (right-click), or switch the
requirement off with /cmr radio masts off. The radio desk is wired and always has a network.
I cannot hear the other party.
Speaking over the radio needs Simple Voice Chat on server and clients. Without it, the chat goes over the radio during a call.
Two trains do not couple, they crash.
Coupling only happens slowly (both trains together up to 5 km/h) and only where two couplers of the same kind touch. The coupler must sit at the end of a carriage and point out of it along the track.
Installing and updating
Does CMR run on Fabric or NeoForge?
Not yet. CMR runs on Forge 47.x for Minecraft 1.20.1.
Do I need CMR on the client too?
Yes. CMR must be installed on the server and on every client.
After updating to 0.4.0, my gangways no longer join to the side.
Gangways placed with an earlier version lose their joins to the left and right. Place one cell of the passage again and they join up.
My old PZB magnets stand beside the track.
Magnets placed before 0.3.0 stay where they were and act as a 2000 Hz magnet at the next signal. Place them again to get the magnet at the rail with all frequencies.
Where does CMR keep its data?
In the world save, in data/createmanagedrailways.dat of the Overworld. Back up the world before updating.
Something else is broken.
CMR is an early development version. Please report bugs with your mod versions on the Discord.
