Train Protection

Cabinet and Sifa

The Train Protection Cabinet switches PZB and the vigilance device per train; the vigilance device (Sifa) makes the driver acknowledge every 30 seconds.

Train Protection Cabinet

The Train Protection Cabinet is a block you build into the train, anywhere among its carriages.

  • Only a train carrying one reacts to PZB magnets. Without a cabinet, the magnets leave the train alone.
  • It is operated on the assembled train:
    • Right click: switches PZB off and on for this train ("PZB switched off" / "PZB switched on").
    • Sneak + right click: switches the vigilance device off and on.
  • The train remembers both switches. When a train is split, the part split off keeps the settings.
Switched-off PZB is meant for test runs and shunting. On a real line, leave it on.

Vigilance device (Sifa)

The Vigilance Device is fitted to the Driver's Console like every other console device: click the console with it.

While the train moves and is driven by hand, the driver has to acknowledge it regularly:

Every 30 seconds

Acknowledge by a right click on the device or with the key V. Each acknowledgement starts the 30 seconds anew.

Warning

Missed it? The action bar says "Vigilance device! Please acknowledge" and a tone sounds.

Emergency brake

5 seconds later the train is braked: "Emergency brake by the vigilance device. Acknowledge to release". It brakes until the driver acknowledges.

A standing train, a train on its schedule and a train without the device are not watched. The cabinet's sneak-click switches the device off for one train.

The key V can be changed in the controls settings ("Acknowledge vigilance device"). It works while you are on a train whose console carries the device.
