Signal gantries
Where there is no room for a mast between the tracks, or a mast would be hard to see, German railways put the signals over the track: on a signal cantilever (one column) or a signal bridge (two columns). CMR builds both from two blocks, the Signal Gantry Column and the Signal Gantry Beam.

Building one
Stack the column
Stack Signal Gantry Column pieces like a signal mast. The ladder faces you when you place a piece, and you can climb it. From the third piece upward it has a back guard, which really holds you while you climb.
Add the beam
Place a Signal Gantry Beam against the back of the top column piece. That piece becomes a platform at walkway height, from which the walkway starts. Then place each further beam against the end face of the last one.
Or set the beam on top
Alternatively put the first beam on top of the column. The walkway then opens above the ladder, and you climb straight up through the hole.
Finish it
With one column it is a cantilever. Put a second column at the other end for a bridge. Free ends are closed by the railing.
Signals on the gantry
| How | What you get |
|---|---|
| Hanging: place the light signal against the underside of a beam | It hangs in a frame with a maintenance platform, railing and a ladder up to a hatch in the walkway. The frame reaches down as far as the signal. |
| Standing: place the light signal on the walkway | A short mast reaches down to the walkway; the mast sign or distant signal board (Ne 2) sits outside on the railing. |
- The mark sits beside the screen of a hanging signal: mast sign white-red-white, with the yellow triangle below it for a combined signal, or the yellow triangle alone for a distant signal.
- A signal belongs above its track. If a main signal is placed elsewhere, mark it with an Ne 4 (chequered board) from the Ne Sign.
- Indicators work as usual. A hanging signal is built from the top down: switch an indicator off and the signal gets shorter.
Styles
Right click any part with Create's wrench (management right needed) to restyle the whole structure, signals included:

| Style | Look |
|---|---|
| Gantry: box girder, green | today's DB gantry, resedagreen |
| Gantry: box girder, galvanised | the same in bare galvanised steel |
| Gantry: lattice truss | the older lattice girder on lattice columns |
