Train Radio

Automatic dispatcher

Answers the train radio where no desk is staffed, for single player and empty signal boxes.

Not every world has a dispatcher online. The automatic dispatcher steps in wherever no radio desk serving a train is staffed (no player within 8 blocks of it). In the list of reachable subscribers it appears as Dispatcher (automatic).

How it answers

It answers fixed messages after a short pause, as a person would:

You sendIt answers
Stopped at signal or Request an orderdepends on the signal, see below
Fault on the train"Stay where you are"
anything else"Understood"

When a train reports at a signal, the automatic dispatcher looks at why it is waiting:

  • Signal locked by the signal box: "signal ... is locked by the signal box, wait". It never overrides a lock.
  • Section behind the signal occupied: "the section behind signal ... is occupied, wait". It never sends a train into an occupied section.
  • Train not at a signal showing stop: "you are not standing at a signal showing stop".
  • No visible reason: if the train has waited more than 30 seconds in front of the signal, it gives an order to pass it. Before that it answers "wait, the signal will come shortly"; report again a little later.
The automatic dispatcher cannot be called, it only takes messages. A signal telephone "calls" it by reporting the train waiting at its signal.

Switching it off

If you want a human dispatcher to decide everything, switch it off:

  • In the radio window: Automatic dispatcher at the bottom (players with CRN's "Global Settings" right).
  • By command: /cmr radio auto on|off.

Then messages to an unstaffed desk get no answer, and calls there ring until they time out.
