Stations

Platform loudspeaker

Announces arrivals, connections, departures and passing trains, plays notices and calls from the signal box.

The Platform Loudspeaker announces the trains of its station with a gong, in each player's own language. Line, destination, platform and delay come from CRN.

What it announces

MomentExample
Arrival"Platform 3: S 1 to Westend is arriving. Please stand back from the platform edge." With the delay of a late train and the reason CRN gives for it.
ConnectionsOnce the train stands: "Your next connections: S 1 to Westend from platform 1 in 2 minutes."
Departure"... please board. Mind the doors and the departing train."
Passing train"Attention, a train is passing through. Please stand back from the platform edge."
Changed platform"Please note: this train departs from platform 4 instead of platform 3 today."
Cancelled train"... this train is cancelled today."
Divided or joined trainWhere the front and the rear portion go, or that the train is joined to another portion.
Closed station"No trains call at this stop at present", with your reason if the station was closed with one.
NoticesIn between: "Smoking is only permitted in the marked smoking areas", "Please do not leave your luggage unattended" and more, plus your own.

The text appears in the chat of the players within range and is read aloud by the system's speech output (the one Minecraft's narrator uses). A resource pack can replace the speech with recordings put together from building blocks (platform, number, line, station, ...).

Placing

Like the station clock, the loudspeaker fixes itself by where you place it: on the ground or a mast it gets a mast piece of its own, against a wall a bracket, under a roof a tube.

Settings

Click the loudspeaker with Create's wrench.

Without a Create station nearby the window says "No Create station nearby: notices only".

A loudspeaker far from its station

A loudspeaker normally belongs to the station nearest to it. To announce for a station further away, for example at the entrance of a long underpass:

Use Create's Display Link.

Right-click the loudspeaker with the Display Link to select it as the target, then place the link on Create's station block of the far station, just as you would link a station to a display board.

Done

The loudspeaker now announces for that station, however far away it hangs. Any other display source names the station by its text.

Calls from the signal box

In the control desk window (see Signal box):

  • Tab Announcements: write your own notices, which the loudspeakers play in turn with the built-in ones, and send a Call to all, which goes at once to every loudspeaker with listeners.
  • Tab Stations: Call sends an announcement to one station only.
For a big station, put one loudspeaker per platform and set Platform on each. Then every platform hears only its own trains, with connections to the others.
