Closures and extra stops

Replacement timetables for construction work and disruptions - closing stations, replacement stops, reasons on the displays and extra stops.

For construction work and disruptions you change what the trains run without touching the base schedule:

effective schedule = base schedule + extra stops - closed stations

Once the disruption is over, you reopen the station or remove the extra stop and apply again, and the trains are back on the base schedule.

Closures, replacement stops and extra stops are only noted at first. The trains change when you apply: Apply to trains for one line, or Apply all (n) at the top of the window. Exceptions are listed under Automatic updates, for example lines with auto-sync or the setting Effective at once.

Closing a station

Open the Stations tab. It lists every station a managed schedule stops at. Select one.

ButtonWhat it does
Close stationCloses it until you reopen it. Stops at this station are left out.
Close for a while...Asks for the number of minutes (up to 10 080, one week). The closure lifts itself, and all lines are then applied automatically.
Close by name...Closes every station that matches a pattern, see below.
Reopen stationLifts the closure. If the station is closed by a pattern, the pattern is lifted.

The details tell you why a station is closed: Closed - trains skip this stop, Closed for another n minute(s), Closed by profile name or Matches the closure pattern. Used by schedules (n) lists the schedules that stop there.

Closing by name with wildcards

Close by name... takes a pattern: * stands for any number of characters, ? for exactly one. Central* closes every stop whose station starts with "Central".

A closure is compared with the station filter of the stop. A stop with the filter Central * is therefore not left out when only Central 1 is closed, because the train could still use Central 2. Close Central * or Central* to catch it.

Replacement stop

For a closed station you can name a station where the trains stop instead. Select the closed station and click Replacement stop, then type the other station. The answer reads "Trains stop at B instead of A (after applying)". Remove replacement clears it again.

Reason on the displays

While a line runs a replacement timetable, CRN's departure boards show a notice at its trains: "Replacement schedule: some stops are cancelled" or "Replacement schedule: additional stops".

For a closed station you can add your own text, for example "Construction work at Central". Select the station and click Reason. It appears on the boards at all trains of lines whose stop there is left out, in addition to the general notice.

  • Up to 48 characters, at most six different reasons at the same time.
  • Closures that come from a profile have no reason of their own.
  • The text stands at the trains of the affected lines, not at the station: CRN shows notices per train.
  • Remove reason clears it.

Extra stops

An extra stop adds a stop to a managed schedule without changing it. It belongs to the schedule, so it applies to every line that uses this schedule.

Choose the schedule

In the Schedules tab select the schedule and click Add extra stop.

Choose the position

Pick where it goes: At the start, or After one of the schedule's stops. If a station occurs more than once, the choice says which visit is meant, for example After Harbour (stop no. 2).

Station and waiting time

Type the station of the extra stop and its waiting time in seconds (5 seconds if you leave the default).

In the schedule's entries the extra stop now appears as + station (extra stop, n s, click to remove). A click on it removes it again.

By command

/cmr station list
/cmr station close <station> [minutes]
/cmr station open <station>
/cmr station replace <station> [replacement] without replacement: clears it
/cmr station reason <station> [text] without text: clears it
/cmr schedule extra list <schedule>
/cmr schedule extra add <schedule> <station> first [waitSeconds]
/cmr schedule extra add <schedule> <station> after <stop> [waitSeconds] [occurrence]
/cmr schedule extra remove <schedule> <station>

station close also takes patterns with * and ?.

Tips

  • Collect several changes and apply them together. Use Preview in the Lines tab to see what will change.
  • For a disruption that comes back regularly, save the closures and extra stops as a profile.
  • If closing leaves a line without any stop, that line is not applied; the other lines are.
